This series of works is likely the first in Japan to use artificial tatami for shogi mats. Until now, the material was igusa (rush grass), which was prone to decay and discoloration, so it wasn't very popular. Therefore, tatami mats for shogi boards are in short supply. Moreover, I learned that there is a demand for such large sizes. This work was created in response to requests, making it foldable and space-saving.
It took a lot of time and repeated trial and error to get to this point. Of course, it's handmade, including the tatami fabric.
