lovely pale blue Arita ware, a type of Japanese porcelain. The text on it says "太盛", which is likely the mark of the maker or kiln.
Arita ware is known for its finest and elegant designs. It originated in the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture, Japan, around the early 17th century. The first porcelain made in Japan was Arita ware, created after the discovery of porcelain clay in the area. A Korean potter named Yi Sam-Pyeong is credited with introducing porcelain-making techniques to the region.
Initially, Arita ware was primarily blue and white, but over time, a variety of styles and colors have been developed. It is sturdy, does not absorb water, and is suitable for tableware. Arita ware has been exported globally, especially to Europe, where it became highly sought after.
