Bound in original green cloth, tight spine, titles stamped in gold on the front cover and spine, x, 431 pp., illustrations by Will James. Will James (1892-1942) was an artist and author focusing on the American West. One of his other works, Smoky the Cowhorse, won the 1927 Newbery Medal, a special award for achievements in children’s writing.
