Thanks to the Manila galleon trade, it was brought to Acapulco in the seventeenth century from the Philippines. Its roots are in Philippine mangoes, just like those of other Mexican mango cultivars like Ataulfo. It is frequently mistaken for the Philippine variation Carabao because of similarities in shape, color, and flavor, but they are actually two different breeds since the Mexican Manila contains genetic input from other imported types, whereas the Carabao does not.With approximately half of the production, the Manila mango variety is the remarkably produced variety in Mexico.
